Hello forum - I would be grateful if anyone of you can answer this.

If I am looking at the waveform across the view of an idle speed control valve - digital signal. Is this waveform just a repetition of one cycle continuously?

Thanks for your post.

This is quite difficult to answer without seeing the waveform captured or knowing what type of idle speed control is used.

The most common type is a small pintle driven against a spring, the amount of on time for the power to the motor determines the position and thus the amount of air allowed into the engine. This type of actuator will give a pulsed waveform with some time spent usually at 12V and the rest at zero.

Hopefully this helps, if you need anything further just let me know.

Regards, Matt
