2-way radio repair application

Postby KA1ZFY » Thu Mar 12, 2009 3:55 pm

Hi:

I would like to buy a scope in order to repair and align CB and amateur radios. I know I would like it to be able to read frequencies up to 100MHz, measure DC voltage, voltage peaks, etc. but that's all I know so far. If you need more information on what I plan to do with the scope, please let me know and I will look into it further.

Thanks,

Steve

Hi Steve

Given the frequencies you are measuring, I would suggest the 5000 series scopes: http://www.picotech.com/picoscope5200-s ... tions.html

Please let me know if you have any questions.

2-way radio repair application

Thanks, Robin, for your quick reply. The highest frequency I will be measuring will be 100MHz. Can I get by with a less-expensive unit?

Thanks,

Steve

Hi Steve

The 3206 (http://www.picotech.com/picoscope-specifications.html) will sample at 200 MS/s. This may be enough, as it will allow you to measure up to 100 MHz. However at this frequency you won't see the actual waveform shape. For example, a 100 MHz sine wave would look like a triangular wave, as you will only have two samples per cycle.
