Hi everyone,

i am new to adc-40. And I found that this kind of product has several characteristics.

For example: 8 bits resolution, 1xBNC channel, plus minus 5v voltage ranges, plus minus 30v overload protection, 1M ohm imput impedance, 20kS/s sampling rate, 1% accuracy, 500us/div to 50s/div scope timebases, 0 to 10kHz and 50 dB dynamic range for spectrum ranges, 10kHz analog bandwidth, no buffer size and no power supply.

Someone who knows about those characteristics above, could you please explain to me one by one. I am really curious and wants to know these characteristics deeper.

I will briefly explain each point.

8 bits resolution
2^8 = 256 measurable increments over the voltage range

BNC channel
The input connector socket type

±5V Voltage Ranges
The input voltage range the unit can measure, -5V to 5V.

30V Over Voltage
The maximum voltage that the unit can be exposed to before any permenant damage could be caused to the unit or the computer.

1M Ohm input impedance
The resistance of the unit (use a load with a much lower resistance for accuracy)

1% Accuracy
The unit's quoted accuracy over the full range.

Timebases
The length of time over which a signal is captured (usually x10 for the total capture length)

0 to 10kHz
This is the analogue bandwidth

50dB Dynamic Range
This is based on resolution - 20log2^8

The unit does not have onboard memory and it is powered by the PC.
