I have a requirement to purchase a DC metering system.

It needs to be able to operate with the following parameters:

Primary Votlage = 600 to 2200V DC

Primary current = 5 to 500A DC

The purpose is to measure energy level up to 500MWh and then generate an alarm.

This equipment is to be used within a 11kV ac substation environment and is used to meter the energy delivered from tidal generators.

If you can engineer a suitable solution could you provide equipment techical details and guideline prices.

A fast response will be appreciated.

Best Regards,

Paul Smith

Hello Guest,

Your current metering requirement could be met by our Current Clamp PP266 (http://accessories.picotech.com/current_clamps.html), however, the limit of our high voltage probe is +/- 700 VDC. Alternatetively, if your system has a load of known resistance, then you could use a current clamp to meter the current and thus know the voltage.

Is there any reason why you are unable to monitor at the a.c. part of your system? If you could do that, then you might consider a stepdown transformer to bring the voltage safely within probe range.

The data logging equipment required for your application would depend upon how frequently you wish to sample the sensors and, the resolution and accuracy required.

Regards
John
