I have been using the EL005 Enviromon data logger with an EL040 current monitor though it isn't logging any data and giving the message 'Converter fail' in the events window. I have been using a standard cable instead of the EnviroMon network cable, is this likely to be a problem?

An incorrect cable can certainly be a problem. The connector for the network cable has space for six pins but only the centre four are used. They are wired directly, pin to pin, with no cross-over.
