does any body know how to use the automotive scope 212 to test for IR and RF signals to check transmiters and receivers ???

Hi,
It is only possible to test for IR & RF signals if you make detectors for each to interface to the scope input. For IR that would mean an IR diode, load resistor & voltage source (+5V). For RF, an RF signal diode to rectify the signal would do (bit like a crystal set!).
You still would only be able to test for a simple output signal being present or not.
