Hi i wounder if you could help me,

Ive recently purchased one of your adc-10's and would like to start logging temperatures. Ive got a type k thermocouple already but cant seem to get it to work, is this any good or could you recommend another probe for this unit?

cheers.

Sean.

Hi and thank you for your email.

A thermocouple needs a cold junction and a high vertical resolution, the ADC10 would not be suitable for this application. The TC08 is specifically designed for thermocouples, please have a look at the link below:

Kind regards

Thanks for your reply Ziko,

i just bought this unit through farnell in one who quoted
"By connecting suitable sensors they can be used to measure temperature, pressure, humidity, light, resistance, current, power, speed, vibration and other signals."

i wonder if this info is a bit mis-leading Rolling Eyes

could you then tell me please what would be a suitable sensor?

sorry to be a pain.

Sean.

Hi Sean,

The ADC11 is a device that can measure 0-2.5V in 10 or 12 bit versions. Providing you have a sensor that can output a voltage within that range and the resolution of the ADC11 is sufficient, then most sensors should be fine. In our software you can set up scaling by function, look up table or a scaling file and create units to give you a complete solution.

Temperature can be done in a number of ways one of which is using thermocouples, whilst the AC11 is not intended for high precision thermocouple measurements it can be used for general purposes. I have attached the ADC11 terminal block manual which gives instructions on how to achieve this (including cold junction).

Hope this helps.

Kind regards
