hi there we're looking to purchase a data logger which would be able to take PIr as an input, (we would also like advice on what sort of pir devices we could use, we dont mind demolishing a pre build pir e.g. burglar alarm pir thingy)

Basically we want to make a system where we could pick up movement using a pir which would then send a signal to a data logger and which would then send this information to a pc, where the data could be saved in a spread sheet style and also sent into a program (VB probably) which we would write to analyse the data.

Hi

I suggest you start by looking at the input range of the loggers here:
http://www.picotech.com/datatable.html
Using the Terminal board is is possible to offer higher voltages and construct a potential divider network to drop input voltages.
PicoLog could be used to monitor PIR activity and display in grap form.
As for PIR selection and output levels, I suggest talk with RS or Farnell about selection.
