Hi
I am trying to use some type k thermocouples with an ADC-16.
When I set up the software to use the thermocouple, I see a temperature registered, and the temperature rises if I touch the thermocouple. However the temperature is given as very close to 0 deg C. Can you suggest what I am doing wrong? |

Hello,
The ADC16 is a high resolution(16bit) data logger. However, it does not directly support thermocouples. You will need to amplify the signal.
The AD595 IC is an integrated thermocouple instrumentation amplifier with built-in cold junction compensation. This is not the simplest of ways to measure temperature and great care should be taken with the
circuitry. A lookup table must be used in PicoLog since the AD595 output voltage is not linear with temperature. Further information is available upon request.
Best regards,
Michael |
