Hi there

I have recently purchased the Picoscope. First impressions are that it is a very good piece of kit and has some good features and advantages.

Anyway, my question is this:

Is it safe to measure the output of a class D amp using the picoscope? I ask this because it has a floating ground.

Could someone please give me some advice on doing this please?

Thanks in advance

Hi

Thank you for your post.

To measure something with a floating ground then the Picoscope would need to be isolated. This can be achieved when using a laptop as the unit is not taking a ground from the earth (it cannot with a laptop). The other way would be to use differential probes.

Otherwise I would not advise doing this experiment.

Hope this helps

Best Regards
