I have jusy setup a 3424 Picoscope on an Intel Mac running XP Pro in a partition set up with Boot Camp 1.12. Everything seems satisfactory.

I have one question at the moment. I use my computer most of the time running the Mac OSX instead of XP Pro. Is there power on the oscilloscope when the Picoscope software is not running, but the computer is on? If so is this objectionable? Should I unplug the USB cable when the scope is not in use?

Hi and thank you for your post.

The device only powers up when you use the software or you write your own software to open the device. Also when you close the software it powers down the device. You can leave it connected to the PC no problem.

Kind regards

But the sampling light stays on whenever the computer is on whether picoscope is running or not.

@ rogerd: I am looking at buying a Macbook Pro and will also need to use it with a PicoScope 3224. It is good to hear that it works fine in bootcamp. I would like to know if you have tried to use it in a virtual machine running XP (e.g. VMWare or Parallels).

Ericc,

While I have personally not attempted to try the PicoScope units on a Macbook Pro, one of our customers has successfully used the PS2202 with VMWare. You can read about this via the following link:
