Hi Zico,

I am setting up a remote data accq. system using the enviromon data logger EL005. I am trying to configure it using the logger connected to a wavecom modem and with a gsm bearer transporting the data to an ip address with a fixed port. I am configuring the modem to act as a server and running enviromon software on the client to gather the data. Therefore I need to know whether the enviromon software when configured as a client just listens at the port and detects data or does it send the server (modem) an event. The reason I am doing this i am trying to eliminate the need for a PC on site. Please let me know if you have any suggestions on a better way

Hi just to confirm what I said on the phone earlier.

You cannot do this with our software, you can have IP networking with two PCs, or you can have two GSM modems, however you cannot mix and match. There may be a way of doing this but not without making some modifications, which I wouldn't know how to do.

Kind regards

Hi,
Zico when looking at your software enviromon supports a tcp/ip protocol link to the logger. However this is declared in the software as a client socket with listening only. Traditional tcp/ip socket client usually send a signal to the server and the server responds by sending the required info. I am wondering if this is the case as well or if the software just recieves all info send to the specified port of the ip address configured.

Please enlighten me.
