I've been using PicoLog software for a few weeks now as part of a PhD project, and in most respects it is working well. One minor problem which I'm encountering at the moment is that PicoLog Recorder closes down even if you press the 'Minimise' button - which is very easy to do by mistake if you are used to using windows based software. This becomes more inconvenient when I try and re-open PicoLog Recorder, as I just get PicoLog Player instead; I need to restart my PC in order to get back into Recorder mode.

Is there anything I can do to save the inconvenience of frequent restarts, other than just being very careful?

Thanks

Roger

Hi, and thank you for your post.

Have you tried downloading the latest software and seeing if this fixes your problem?

A few other questions:

1)What product are you using?
2)What operating system are you using
3) What is the spec of your computer?
4) Is this problem repeatable?
5)Try removing the software and reinstalling it from scratch and see if you are still having problems.
6)Have you tried it on a different PC and if so do you have this problem on the other PC.

Let me know how you get on.

Kind regards

Hi Ziko,

Thanks for your help. Will try and dig a network cable out from somewhere to get the PC connected and install the lastest software.

In answer to your questions

1)What product are you using?
The standard picolog software with an ADC-24 and a TC-08 running together.

2)What operating system are you using
Windows 2000

3) What is the spec of your computer?
I think it's fairly ancient - perhaps pentium II 350Mhz and not that much RAM.

4) Is this problem repeatable?
Yes - it happens consistently.

5)Try removing the software and reinstalling it from scratch and see if you are still having problems.
Will try this.

6)Have you tried it on a different PC and if so do you have this problem on the other PC.
Not yet

Will try and let you know how things go tommorrow or Monday.

Cheers

Hi Ziko,

A colleague just noticed that PicoLog Recorder minimises as one of the icons on the bottom right of the screen, rather than as a bar in the bottom centre, so it isn't closing down after all. Sorry about that - my mistake!

Cheers

I use a TC08USB and have just upgraded the software, When I minimise the window the software crashes. After that I cannot get the Pico log program to see the unit without a reboot. I removed the program and reinstalled the earlier version from the disk and found that Pico Player comes up when you try to start Pico Log. So I reloaded the new version and it works I assume that it will still die when I minimise it.

I hate companies that cannot be bothered to test stuff out before imposing it on their customers If it is beta code please tell us; then we can choose if we want to trial stuff for your ather than messing up valuable data logging.

Hi and thank you for your post.

The software is not Beta, there may be a number of reasons why the software crashed, it could either be a bug in the software or a problem with your computer. If the problem is repeatable and we can recreate it then we would do our very best to solve it. However without being able to recreate the problem there is nothing we can do.

Let me know how you get on.

Kind regards
