BMW E46 330D 03 reg AMS

Trying to scope air mass sensor on the above bmw, it has 4 pins plug but when i go to do the usual snap throttle test i've got no 1v siganl wire. All i can find is a square wave signal that increases in frequency under higer revs. Does anyone know how to test/ fault find on this system?

Besides just looking at the pulse-train for basic signal integrity, my suggestion would require a known good example or specification. Basically, capture a pattern with it flowing as much air as it can, set up a measurement and look at max frequency. Compare to known good or spec.

It would also help to know why you are at the MAF anyway.
