G'day

This is what I got yesterday when I loaded 5.18.0 and clicked on the PicoScope icon on the desktop.

The program 'PSW32.EXE' caused the error: Access violation.

PSW32.EXE caused fault #c0000005 in (Unknown) at address 0177:00000003

To date, 2 fatal errors have been recorded in this program. This particular error was recorded 2 times.

Resurected P2-400 PC running Win98. Hard drive all cleaned up, checked with Norton Disk Doctor and Win Doctor, ScanDisk and De-fragged.

I have only loaded PicoScope and ticked the "other devices" box for my
ADC 200-50.
Re-ran Win Doctor, shut down and restarted - same error.
Removed PicoScope and reloaded this morning - same error - 4 times now.

WASSUP!!!!

Hello Wires,

Was the device previously working on this machine, and if so, which version of PicoScope were you using?

G'day John

Yes this PC had a working copy quite a few years ago. It was retired about 6 years ago and I have dragged it back into service as the replacement PC has developed a Motherboard fault and intermittantly fails to recognise there is a keyboard and mouse attached. This can happen either in POST or while using the PC. I have finally had enough and junked it!

I have no idea of the version that was on the machine at the time of loading the latest and greatest. Is there somewhere that I can find it still on the PC after the re-load?

Regards

Hello Wires,

The previous version of PicoScope should be uninstalled before installing the latest version. As you have already installed the latest version, I know of no method for discovering what was loaded previously.

The reason for asking about the version that worked historically is that your computer specification is rather dated, and perhaps an earlier software version may have been more sympathetic.

You could try installing R5.16.2 after first uninstalling R5.18.0 and, it might be a good idea to delete other Pico files and re-booting before installing R5.16.2

Regards
John

G'day picojohn

Will try your suggestion when I get the time to do so. Rather busy here at the moment and I do not need it right at this moment.

Thanks for the advice. I will advise when I have done it.

Best regards
