MAF Testing using 'Block Mode'
Using the preset in the Automotive menu involves pressing the space bar shortly after flooring the throttle. If you prefer to leave the laptop round the front of the car with the 'scope this method of test can be less of a bother, especially with 'drive by wire' with no throttle plate to lean on in the engine bay.
Select from the preset menu the Airflow sensor correct for the vehicle under test.
Select Settings/Options/Advanced. In the drop down that will be on Chart Recorder, change this to Block Mode. Set the number of samples to 10,000. Click ok.
You wil be presented with a blank screen. At he bottom on the screen go to the trigger menu, which will be set to NONE. Change this to SINGLE.
Drag the grey trigger diamond up to the centre of the screen , circa 2.5V.
Press the space bar to go into running mode.
Assuming you are correctly connected, as the signal level output of the sensor exceeds the trigger threshold there will be a short delay and then the waveform will be captured and displayed on the screen.
