I used to work with the ADC-212/3 (old company). Now I need a new oscilloscope. The 212-3 worked great for my needs. But, being old technology hardware, are you keeping it around or should I go for something in the 2000 or 3000 series? The 2203-2205 all have better specs than the 212/3 except resolution. Is that a problem? Also, is no external trigger a problem? (I can operate these things but have no idea about any of this techy stuff). I get 2 channel signals from a laser diode and a load cell.
Thanks.

Hello Crawford,

It would make sense to purchase one of the newer USB oscilloscopes, and if 12 bit resolution is important, then you may wish to consider the PicoScope 3224/3424 (http://www.picotech.com/picoscope3000.html).

If you do not need 12 bit resolution, then there really is a lot of choice, and it may be helpful if you read the article on choosing an oscilloscope at http://www.picotech.com/applications/oscilloscope_tutorial.html

Finally, you could download the demo software (http://www.picotech.com/demo.html) to get a feel for the various options without the need for an actual device.

Regards
John
