Our recommended oscilloscope product is the ADC200/50. This is a dual channel PC-based oscilloscope / spectrum analyser that easily meets the requirements for EMT 5 (oscilloscope) in the apparatus list which states that “A PC-based oscilloscope is to be preferred for new purchases.”

If you are on a very limited budget, consider also the ADC200/20, however this is not really fast enough for Activity 220P (Measuring the speed of light). Activity 70D (Speed of a Pulse on a Coaxial Cable) can be done with the ADC200/20 but works better with the ADC200/50. The higher speed ADC200/100 is also suitable, but does not offer significant advantages for this course.

I am establishing a budget and am hoping to persuade the senior school I work at to purchase a PC based 'scope(s). But I need to give them an estimate on the price.
Seen as it will be used for speed of light and similar phase shift experiments, that is among anything else I can think of, like simple RLC circuits. Hence I need to know what the replacment for the ADC200/50 is
I cannot find a direct replacement (well actually I cannot find the ADC200 spec, just the ADC212's.

It needs to be USB or firewire since most the computer have no legacy ports.

Also the software is looking dated and this is going to be used via interactive whiteboards and laptops (to modern kids who like things to look pretty Rolling Eyes ), I have noticed the v6 software is in development but 5xxx only. Is it going to be released for the other cheaper oscilloscopes.

Hi and thank you for your post.

The closest resemblance for the ADC200/20 would be the PicoScope 2202 (no external trigger and lower analogue bandwidth then the ADC200/20).

For ADC200/50 and ADC200/100 the direct replacement would be the 3204 and 3205 respectively (greater record length and sig gen functionality). The 3206 has even higher specification at 200MS/s and better sig gen.

Hope this helps.

Kind regards

Yes that pretty much explains it.

The 3204 would be the choice there then, Since I can hopefully get more of them Smile

(It may be a good idea to go over the site and add a comment to equivelent models where older quotes are used)
