Spectrum analyser update rate at lower spans

On my 3224, why does the spectrum analyser update rate (sweep time) reduce dramatically at lower spans? When I look at the bottom few hundred hz of the spectrum, the update rate is of the order of a few seconds. Intuitively, I would expect the update rate to be faster for lower freqs and higher for higher freqs.

Thank you for your email.

These lower frequencies take longer to capture fully as they by definition have a longer wavelength. Therefore the scan time needs to be longer and thus the update takes a bit longer. This is normal when using the spectrum analyser.
