Hi,

I would like to study video signals (PAL and NTSC) with my scope 3205.

I've been doing it with a old Tektronix that has a "video trigger mode" and that automatically locks to Field 1 and Field 2 of a PAL / NTSC signal and lets me specify the trigger delay in ms.

Is there any simple way for me to simulate this behaviour in PicoScope?

Could you add this to the "wish list" of development?

TIA

Hi

Thank you for your post.

We do not have a video trigger function in our software however you can use a normal trigger. You need to set it so that it occurs in a place where the trace only crosses once in a cycle, this way it will not flicker between points.

Hope this helps

Best Regards

OK, Sarah.

But, a video trigger is much more than a simple trigger in "a place where the trace only crosses once in a cycle", because of the video signal characteristics.

Can I expect Pico to improve PicoScope in this matter or is this a feature completely out of question?

TIA

Hi

Thank you for your post.

We are always looking to improve our software and add new features. At present I am not aware of any plans to implement such a feature however this does not mean that we will not in the future.

Best Regards

Hello,

This is exactly what I was looking for. I'm using 5203.

I sometimes also use Tek TDS3052 which has "video triggers", that can automatically lock on to various types of video signals: NTSC, PAL, 480p, 576p, 720p, 1080i, 1080p etc.

I was wondering whether these kinds of video signal triggers have now been added to the latest version of PicoScope? If not, are there any plans to do so any time soon? If not, please take this as a feature request from your customer.

Hope to see such a feature in PicoScope soon.

Thanks and best regards,
Kapil

Hi there are a number of advanced triggering features for the 5000, please have a look at the following link for a description of these triggers:

Hope this helps.

Kind regards.

It is possible to "save" triggers? I'd like to set a trigger for a particular type of signal - let's say some complex trigger for NTSC video signal - and then every time I want to lock on to NTSC signal, I'll just load the trigger from a file on harddrive. Is such a feature available in PicoScope?

Thanks,
Kapil

Hi you could save a settings file or the waveform which would have the settings in it.

So if you play around with the advanced triggers and get the right kind of settings you can then save that. Have a play around.

Kind regards

Thanks Ziko, Sarah!

I'll try and see what I can get from the advanced triggers. But please do take note of the requirements that I've listed in this post as suggestions/feature requests in future versions of PicoScope.

Thanks and best regards,

Hi

I agree with chicola as I also have a Picoscope in the 3000 series. (3206)
I also lack possibilities for showing video signals.
Especially I would like to grab video lines.
As mentioned by Kapil, other scopes like TDS3xxx have these triggers.

Are there any plans for the 3000 to be able to use these kinds of triggers?

Best regards
