PicoScope for DOS has not been updated since 1998 so does not support our recently released products. The more advanced PicoScope for Windows is also available.

PicoScope provides your PC with four virtual instruments: digital storage oscilloscope, spectrum analyser, voltmeter and frequency meter. Each is controlled by a simple to use menu, with on screen help. Multiple setups can be saved to disk, ensuring the program always starts up in the mode you want. One keypress can take you from a screen showing the voltage and frequency of a signal to a scope display of the trace, a second keypress shows the spectrum. Scope and spectrum traces can be saved to disk and printed.

The scope has all the functions you would expect; the timebase can be set between 1 ms/div and 5 s/div (100 us/div to 5 s/div on th ADC-100), dual trace and XY modes are available with the ADC-11 and ADC-100. Triggering options are auto, single or repeat, both pre and post triggering are available. Both axes have multiple and offset functions to ‘zoom in’ on a particular event. Functions such as moveable rulers for event timing, and the ability to annotate graphs and axis before printing give additional advantages over conventional oscilloscopes.

The spectrum analyser gives a real time display of frequency against amplitude. Amplitude may be displayed in linear or logarithmic form. A moveable ruler gives a readout of both frequency and amplitude. Both the minimum and maximum frequency to be displayed can be selected, signal averaging can be used to reduce noise.

PicoScope can display up to 12 meters on screen; a meter can display either volts (AC or DC), dB or frequency. This makes it possible to display both the AC voltage and frequency of a signal. Each meter has both a digital and an analog (bargraph display) and may be scaled and annotated. When used with the ADC-100, the meters can be set to autorange between voltage ranges.

Software Requirements

PicoScope and PicoLog for DOS require the following hardware: IBM PC or AT compatible running MS DOS V3.00 or above. CGA, EGA, VGA or Hercules compatible display. Printers supported are Epson FX and LQ series, HP Laserjet and Deskjet (additional printer, plotter and graphics drivers available separately). All software supplied on 3.5" disk.
