1.  New Software - R5.08.7 Full Release

New versions of PicoScope, PicoLog and EnviroMon software are now available for free download. This release improves Swedish and Italian language support as well as fixing a few obscure bugs.

If you are already using R5.08.4 or above and are not experiencing any problems then it is probably not worth upgrading (unless you are using the software in Swedish or Italian).

2.  New Automotive Application Note

New this month, is an application note entitled 'Crest of a Wave'. First published in Professional Motor Mechanic magazine it looks at the role of the oscilloscope in diagnosing faults on modern vehicles.

3.  New Science Experiment

Our library of science experiments for data loggers and oscilloscopes continues to grow. New this month is an Physics experiment measuring acceleration due to gravity.

Currently we are most interested in new biology and chemistry experiments. To encourage people to submit experiments, we will donate a DrDAQ data logger or ADC-40 for each experiment we use on our web site.

4.  Technical Tip — Running Multiple Copies of PicoLog

PicoLog is designed so that you can collect data from multiple devices connected to the same PC, the only limitation is that data is collected from each device at the same rate.

If you have more than one converter connected to one PC and need to log data from each converter at different rates, you can run two copies of PicoLog Recorder.

1. Set up PicoLog for the first converter and save the settings as a PicoLog settings file (*.pls) eg. fred.pls
2. You then need to set up PicoLog for the second converter and save the settings with a different filename, eg jack.pls
3. Quit PicoLog Recorder
4. Start the first copy of PicoLog with the command c:\pico\plw32.exe fred.pls
5. Start the second with the command c:\pico\plw32.exe jack.pls

You now have two copies of PicoLog Recorder running, enabling you to collect two independent data runs.
