1.  New Product: Two-Channel Automotive Oscilloscope Kit

Following on from the successful launch of our Four-Channel Automotive Oscilloscope Kit, we are now offering a two-channel version to suit smaller budgets. A major improvement on our earlier, award-winning Automotive Diagnostics Kit, the new Two-Channel Automotive Oscilloscope Kit includes our latest Two-Channel Automotive PC Oscilloscope, the PicoScope 3223.

Like the previous kits, the new kit is designed to help automotive technicians and engineers investigate faults in the electrical and electronic systems of all modern vehicles. It includes our powerful but easy-to-use PicoScope Automotive software and a technical reference library of tests and tutorials on over 50 topics, including waveforms. The kit includes clamps, ignition pickups, test leads and probes and is packaged in a hard-wearing carry case.

The kit can be used to diagnose faults in:

• ABS, crankshaft, camshaft, MAP, MAF, throttle position, knock and oxygen sensors
• Primary and secondary ignition circuits
• Glow plugs and timer relays
• Fuel injectors
• Fuel pumps
• Alternators and starters
• CAN Bus
• Many other sensors and actuators

2.  Equip Auto Exhibition in France

Equip Auto - Parc d'expositions, Paris-Nord, France
13th to 18th October 2005

Pico will be exhibiting at the Equip Auto 2005 exhibition, the leading global meeting place in 2005 for all car-related industries. More than 2,000 exhibitors are expected to attend, of which three-quarters will be from outside France.

3.  Engine Management Diagnostics Course

10th to 11th October 2005 - Engine Management Diagnostics using PicoScope - Solihull, UK

This month Pico will be holding another two-day training course for users of our Automotive Diagnostic Kits.

On the first day you will learn the basic working principles of Engine Management systems, component testing and system diagnostics using oscilloscopes. The day will be split between theory and practical demonstrations in a workshop using the Pico Automotive Diagnostic Kit. On the second day you will continue to explore practical examples of diagnostic work with the oscilloscope. You will also build your understanding of electrical and mechanical faults and the engineering significance of voltage signals.

By the end of the course you will be certified by Pico Technology to use the Pico Automotive Diagnostics Kit and PicoScope oscilloscope software specifically for advanced automotive diagnostic applications. You will then possess the knowledge to run diagnostics on most of the common automotive sensors.

4.  New Accessory: 5 Metre Test Lead

Extend the reach of your Automotive Oscilloscope Kit with the new, longer BNC-to-4mm test lead. Similar to the TA000 three-metre (approx. 10-ft) test lead, the new TA020 five-metre (approx. 16-ft) lead is compatible with all Pico Automotive Oscilloscope Kits. Its BNC connector fits all Pico Automotive PC Oscilloscopes, and its red and black 4mm plugs fit the accessories supplied in the kit, such as insulation-piercing clips, multimeter probes and crocodile clips.

5.  PicoScope Automotive Help Upgraded

The PicoScope Automotive software includes a library of help pages to help you set up the Automotive Oscilloscope Kit and interpret the results it gives you. We have upgraded these pages to make use of the latest features of Microsoft Windows. The pages now open more quickly, there is less clutter taking up space on your screen, and security warning messages no longer appear.

6.  PicoScope Software Now in Czech

Our applications are already supplied with French, German, Spanish, Italian and Swedish menus and dialogs. Now we have added Czech to the list of languages that we support.

You can choose the interface language when you install our software. If you think you will need to change languages after the software is installed, just tick the “Install other languages” box that appears during the installation process. This will allow you to use the “Settings | Language” menu command to switch languages when the software is up and running.
