2. AAPEX Exhibition
Next week Pico will be exhibiting at the Automotive Aftermarket Products Expo in Las Vegas.
We will also be collecting the Motor magazine award for our Automotive Diagnostics kit.
If you are attending the exhibition, please stop by at booth 5943.
More information is available from the exhibition web site at: http://www.aapexshow.com
3. PicoScope Logo Competition
We had an amazing response to our competition to design a new PicoScope logo.
The winner was C. Douciu, from Romania who receives an ADC-212/50 PC Oscilloscope.
A new logo based on his design will soon be appearing in our software and on our products.
The number and quality of entries was far higher than we expected. Thank you to all those of you who entered.
4. Technical Tip — Saving Waveforms as JPEGs
PicoScope (oscilloscope) and PicoLog (data logger) waveforms can easily be saved in JPEG (.jpg) graphics file format.
Each converter on the network must have an unique address. When building large systems you may find multiple converters with the same address. The addresses have to be unique thus the configuration will not complete successfully if units are trying to share a common address.
To save a trace as a JPEG file:
File | Save as |
In the dropdown box labelled 'Save file as type' select the jpg extension. Now enter the name of the file in the 'File Name' box, not forgetting to include the .jpg extension and removing the asterisk (*). Finally click OK or select the directory where the file is to be saved to and then click OK.
A list of previous newsletter "technical tips" can be found on the technical tips page.
5. New Science Experiment
The Pico Technology Library of Experiments contains a number of educational experiments that make use of our oscilloscope and data logging products.
If you are involved in the teaching of science we would love to hear from you. We are looking for people willing to perform and write up new experiments for our collection. For a limited time Pico Technology is willing to donate either a DrDAQ data logger or an ADC-40 PC oscilloscope in return for a suitable experiment. See the experiment guidelines for further information.
This months new data logging experiment is designed to observe changes in the atmospheric charge as a result of natural and man-made events such as rain, thunderstorms and exhaust smoke.
See this and over seventy other interesting and educational science experiments online.

7. Employment Opportunities
We currently have a vacancy for a Production Support Engineer
8. French and German Translators Required
We are currently looking for translators to help with English/French and English/German translation work. An immediate requirement is a project to translate around one hundred A4 pages into French.
Ideally, we are looking to recruit a small group of home based technical translators who are able to work for us on an ad-hoc basis. Alternatively, from time to time we have opportunities for French / German students to work at our offices during vacations.
Some of the translation work is automotive related, so experience in this field would be an advantage.
If this sounds of interest, please e-mail marketing@picotech.com for more information.
