1. Oscilloscopes Gain Digital Color and Analog Intensity Modes
The latest version of PicoScope software (R5.09.2) adds several new display modes. These include Digital Color which is ideal for spotting intermittent glitches and Analog Intensity which emulates the phosphor display of a conventional analog scope.
More information on the new display modes can be found at:
http://www.picotech.com/display_options.html
The new software is available for free download from:
http://www.picotech.com/download.html
2. Automotive Training Days
We are organising a number of training days based around our diagnostics kit. These training days will be ideal for prospective users of the kit and also existing users requiring training to make full use of its features.
The first three training days will be:
- Leeds, UK on December 11th 2002
- Maryland, USA in Jan 2003*
- Washington, USA in Feb 2003*
*exact date / location to be confirmed
3. New Science Experiment
Our library of science experiments for data loggers and oscilloscopes continues to grow. New this month is an Physics experiment to measure magnetic induction using the DrDAQ data logger.
See this and 60 other interesting and educational experiments at:
http://www.picotech.com/experiments/index.html
If you are interested in contributing an experiment to our library, please contact experiments@picotech.com.
Currently we are most interested in new biology and chemistry experiments. To encourage people to submit experiments, we will donate a DrDAQ data logger or ADC-40 for each experiment we use on our web site.
4. Technical Tip — Publishing EnviroMon Data on a Website
The latest version of Enviromon software allows data (graphs, raw data and alarm status) to be displayed live on a web site.
Applications for this technology fall into two areas, the first is allowing your customers to view data. For example a holiday resort or swimming pool may wish to publish graphs of temperature and humidity data to attract visitors. Similarly if you supply or store products that are sensitive to heat, humidity or light (food, pharmaceutical products, document storage, classic cars etc) then by publishing data onto a web site you can demonstrate that correct conditions have been maintained.
A second application area is the remote viewing of your own data. Examples include the remote monitoring of fridges, freezers and HVAC systems. Because the data is uploaded to a web site it is possible to view data from several different sites (which could even be in different countries) simultaneously.
