1.  Electrocardiogram (ECG) Project For Pico Oscilloscopes

An electrocardiogram or ECG is a recording of the electrical signals of the heart. This application note details the construction of an electronic circuit to record ECGs using the DrDAQ data logger. The circuit can also be easily be adapted to work with any of our PC oscilloscope products.

For full details read the Electrocardiogram (ECG) project for DrDaq

2.  Automotive Training and Help

As the Pico Automotive Diagnostics kit becomes more popular, a number of resources have been developed to help users both by Pico and third party companies.

We have tried to list some of the more popular and useful below - if we have missed out any useful links, please e-mail them to us for inclusion in a future newsletter.

Oscilloscope training courses about or using Pico products

Discussion forums about the automotive kit

Other useful sources of information requiring registration and / or payment

As well as these web based resources, do not overlook the automotive specific help built into the software supplied with the kit.

4.  Technical Tip — Using Multiple Products on the Same PC

It is possible to use more than one converter on a single PC and display all channels with the same copy of PicoLog. For example if you need sixteen channels of temperature measurement, use two eight channel TC-08s on the same PC. Different products can also be mixed on the same PC, for example a TH-03 could be used at the same time as an ADC-200.

Multiple-converter operation is available only in 'Real time continuous' mode. Each converter must have a separate port: you can use either standard serial/parallel ports or our USB adapters.

To configure PicoLog to use multiple converters:

  1. Choose File | NewSettings
  2. Check the 'use multiple converters' box
  3. Continue the set up process in the normal way

5.  New Science Experiments

Our library of science experiments for data loggers and oscilloscopes continues to grow. New this month is an experiment using the new DrDAQ oxygen sensor to study the change in oxygen levels during the rusting of iron.

See this and over sixty other interesting and educational experiments at the Pico Technology library of science experiments
