1. New Product! PicoScope 3424 Four-Channel USB Oscilloscope
We have just added a four-channel, high-resolution variant to our PicoScope 3000 Series of USB-connected PC Oscilloscopes. The oscilloscopes in this range have a USB interface for easy installation and have no need for an external power supply. The four-channel PicoScope 3424 will be ideal for debugging complex digital logic and analog circuits.
Like all our oscilloscopes, the PicoScope 3424 is supplied with the PicoScope and PicoLog software applications, which are continually updated and published on our website free of charge. PicoScope turns your PC into an oscilloscope, XY scope, spectrum analyser and multimeter; while PicoLog acts a data logger, allowing you to record measurements unattended, store them and replay them later.
The main features of the new PicoScope 3424 are as follows:
- Four channels
- 12-bit resolution
- 1% voltage accuracy
- 20 MS/s maximum sampling rate
- Large 512 kilosample buffer memory — captures long, complex waveforms at high speed
- ±20 mV to ±20 V measuring ranges
- USB 2.0 connection — for faster screen updates
- Powered by USB port — requires no external power supply

2. New Automotive Tutorial — Electronic Fuel Injection, Part 2
We have added Part 2 of our “Electronic Fuel Injection” article to the series of automotive tutorials on our website. This tutorial continues our investigation of the electronic fuel injection system by looking at injection duration and the engine sensors that contribute towards the desired injector duration.

3. New Science Experiment
— Vibration Monitoring with Optical Fibres
We have added a new entry to the Pico Technology Library of Experiments, a collection of educational experiments suitable for use with our oscilloscope and data logger products. The latest experiment highlights the potential use of an optical fibre as a sensor for real-time monitoring of the dynamic response of a structure. Such a system uses what is known as the fibredyne technique.
This experiment is suitable for students of age 16+ at National Curriculum Key Stage 5 or above. It uses inexpensive plastic optical fibres and the ADC-12 data logger.
