1.  ADC-212/100 Oscilloscope Review

Test and Measurement Europe is the first magazine to review our new ADC-212/100 pc based oscilloscope. The article is a group test that compares our scope with offerings from Tektronix, National Instruments and Fluke.

The review is very favourable towards the ADC-212 and comments: “Pico’s ADC-212/100 PC module DSO comes out as good value for money in our survey. Pico designers have made quite discerning design compromises and the unit has no obvious weak points. On the contrary, it is the only unit with 12 bit vertical resolution, 1% vertical accuracy, and with four other virtual instruments into the bargain.”

The full article can be found in the December / January 2002 issue. We understand that an online version of the review will soon be on their web site and hope to bring you more details next month.

More information on the ADC-212/100 can be found at http://www.picotech.com/pc_oscilloscope.html

2.  New Product — 60A DC Current Clamp

This month we are launching a smaller current clamp for the Automotive product range. The TA009 10mA to 60A clamp works with the ADC-212/3 oscilloscope and enables accurate current measurement of devices that draw 60A or less.

The TA009 is ideal for measuring current waveforms from fuel pumps, fuel injectors and ignition coils (see the web site for sample waveforms). There are two sensitivity settings, selected by a slider switch. The 1mV/10mA for measuring currents up to 20A and 1mV/100mA for currents up to 60A.

3.  Pricing in Euros

Our web site already contains pricing for all our products in US dollars and UK sterling. Over the next few weeks we shall be adding Euro pricing to the website.

4.  New Science Experiments

Our library of science experiments for data loggers and oscilloscopes continues to grow. New this month is an experiment that looks at the changes in current and voltage when a filament lamp is switched on and off.

Other related experiments on a 'light' theme include

  • Measuring the speed of light
  • Investigating the effect of distance from a lamp on its brightness
  • Flickering Lights. Using a light sensor to look at tube lights, computer monitors and TV screens
  • Light intensity variation across a diffraction pattern

See these and many other interesting educational experiments at: http://www.picotech.com/experiments/.

5.  ADC-42 Oscilloscope Special Offer
