1.  RH-02 Temperature / Humidity Converter Updated

Our popular RH-02 Temperature / Humidity converter has been redesigned to use an external sensor (supplied) and a more robust enclosure.

The upgrade offers a number of advantages:

• Increased distance between sensor and PC
• Smaller size allows measurement in confined spaces
• Increased temperature measurement range

Despite these improvements, the price of the RH-02 (complete with PicoLog data logging software) remains at £149 GBP (approx $244 USD, €226 EUR).

2.  MTEC Exhibition

Pico Technology will be exhibiting at the MTEC exhibition on the 12th and 13th Feb 2003 (NEC, Birmingham, UK). Our stand number is D123.

3.  Automotive Training Days in Feb 2003

At the time of writing there are just two places available for the next automotive training days on the 12th and 13th February 2003. The venue is the Green Flag Training Centre (Leeds, UK).

4.  New Science Experiments

Last month experiment Exploding photographic film case caused a lot of interest. Many people contacted us to say they did not believe that the lid would blow off the film can. To prove a point we have added a short video clip to the web page describing the experiment.

If you are interested in contributing an experiment to our library, please contact experiments@picotech.com. Currently we are most interested in new biology and chemistry experiments. To encourage people to submit experiments, we will donate a DrDAQ data logger or ADC-40 for each experiment we use on our web site.

5.  Technical Tip — Save to Disk on Trigger

With PicoScope software, all our oscilloscope products have the ability to save a waveform to disk, complete with a time / date stamp every time a trigger occurs. This feature is particularly useful when trying to debug electronic systems with intermittent failures.

In normal use, this feature is enabled from the Settings | Trigger menu (check the Save-on-trigger box).

For more advanced applications you may want to limit the number of traces to be saved, you can achieve this by editing the settings in the .ini settings file:

1.   use a text editor like notepad.exe
2.   open win.ini from the windows directory on the c: drive
3.   find the section headed [PicoScope for Windows]
4.   add a line MaxSOTFiles=50 (or any number you wish)
5.   save win.ini
6.   restart PicoScope for Windows.
