Diagnostic Kit wins another award

We are pleased to announce that the Pico Automotive Diagnostic Kit has won another award. In the December issue of Professional Motor Mechanic magazine, the advanced version of the kit has been named as one of the "Top Products Of The Year".

Training courses

The next UK automotive training course is on the 4th & 5th Feb 2004.

Due to the popularity of the courses we are planning on running them more frequently and in more locations. One option we are considering is to run an oscilloscope training course in Scotland during March 2004. If this may be of interest to you, please e-mail us at post@picotech.com.

2.  Christmas Holiday Dates and Last Minute Presents!

Pico Technology will close for the Christmas holidays from the 24th December until the 2nd January.

Pico may not be the most obvious place for your Christmas shopping, but at this time of year our novelty diagnostic dice for the frustrated mechanic and the DrDAQ Data Logger prove popular as gifts.

3.  BETT Educational Exhibition

Pico will be exhibiting their range of pc oscilloscope and data logging products on stand V33 of the BETT exhibition in London Olympia.

4.  Technical Tip — Measurements and Alarms in PicoScope

PicoScope has over thirty automated measurements. Oscilloscope measurements include frequency, rise time and pulse width. Spectrum measurements include THD, SFDR and SNR.

For each measurement, upper and lower alarm limits can be set. This makes it possible for example to set an alarm if a pulse width goes out of specification. To add an alarm, first add the Measurement you wish to use using

Settings | Measurements | Add

From the resulting dialog box enter minimum and maximum values to be used then click OK. From

Measurements | Options

you can select the action to occur on alarm, the choices are to either stop the scope (so capturing the error on the screen) or to sound an audible alarm.

5.  New Science Experiment

The Pico Technology Library of Experiments contains a number of educational experiments that make use of our oscilloscope and data acquisition products.

If you are involved in the teaching of science we would love to hear from you. We are looking for people willing to perform and write up new experiments for our collection. For a limited time Pico Technology is willing to donate either a DrDAQ data logger or an ADC-40 PC oscilloscope in return for a suitable experiment. See the experiment guidelines for further information.

This months new data logging experiment uses the DrDAQ data logger together with the oxygen in air sensor to study therespiration of peas.
