1. Updated Oscilloscope Software
Last month, we announced an upgrade to PicoScope oscilloscope software that adds several new display modes including “Digital Color” and “Analog Intensity” modes.
This month, following customer requests, we have made some improvements to the software to make the color modes more “colorful”. We have also produced a new demo version of the software that also contains the new modes.
The upgraded software is available for free download from:
http://www.picotech.com/download.html
2. New Technical Support Forum
To speed up our response to technical support questions, we have launched a new technical support / discussion forum on our web site.
The forum is searchable: if you have a problem or question, it is possible that the answer is already in the forum.
To view or use the new forum, visit:
http://www.picotech.com/support/index.php
3. Automotive News
- A brochure describing the Automotive Diagnostics Kit is now available
- The December 11th Training day in Leeds UK is now fully booked. Details of the next course in February 2003 can be found at :
http://www.picotech.com/training/training.html - The new support / discussion forum (see above) is already proving popular with automotive users, who have their own section. One interesting topic looks at "Examining Chrysler 3.3 Engines For Broken Flex Plates". This can be found at:
http://www.picotech.com/support/viewtopic.php?t=48
4. New Science Experiment
Our library of science experiments for data loggers and oscilloscopes continues to grow. New this month is a Physics experiment that uses an ADC-16 and an optic fibre to measure the deflection of a cantilever beam.
See this and 60 other interesting and educational experiments at:
http://www.picotech.com/experiments/index.html
If you are interested in contributing an experiment to our library, please contact experiments@picotech.com
Currently we are most interested in new biology and chemistry experiments. To encourage people to submit experiments, we will donate a DrDAQ data logger or ADC-40 for each experiment we use on our web site.
5. Technical Tip — IP Networking with PicoLog
The PicoLog IP socket facility can be used to take measurements on one or more computers, but record the data on another computer.
The measurements are taken by PicoLog running on one computer called the client. Another computer, the server, requests the data via an IP network.
For a step by step guide visit:

6 ADC-11/10 Data Logger — Special Offer
Each month Pico Technology offers a different product at 15% discount for orders placed through e-commerce. For details of this months special offer, follow the link below:

7. USB parallel port users - important information
A problem has come to light with some USB to parallel port adapters (Pico part number PP196). When used with some products they can cause data to be collected at the wrong speed.
This problem occurs with USB parallel ports from the following batches: AOR51, AMY23 and AMY49. (The batch number can be found on the paper label).
If you have one of the above units, and are using it with one of the ADC2xx oscilloscope products, no action is required.
If you have one of the above units, and are using it with any other Pico parallel port product, please return it to Pico for an upgrade.
Before sending the unit back to us, please ask for a returns number from technical support - we will accept no responsibility for units sent to us without a returns number. To obtain a returns number please send an e-mail to support@picotech.com including the following information:
- Name
- Address
- Phone number
- Batch and serial number of USB parallel port (for example AMY23/056)
Pico Technology would like to apologise for any inconvenience caused.
