3.  Contribute to our Automotive Waveform Library

If you use our Automotive Diagnostic Kits or Automotive Oscilloscopes, you probably know that we have a collection of waveforms on our website, available free of charge to all visitors.

We are constantly updating this collection to make it more valuable to you, but we need your help to cover the huge range of vehicles and engine management systems in use around the world. If you have captured any interesting waveforms, particularly if they show real-world faults, please share them with us by emailing your .PSD files, with a short explanation, to: tech@picotech.com

4.  Automotive Training

Engine Management Diagnostics using PicoScope
— Kingston College, London, UK 23rd and 24th August 2005

This month we are holding another two-day 'Engine Management Diagnostics using PicoScope' training course, with the help of Bill Phillips from V-Tech Training. Bill has spent most of his career in the automotive sector and is highly regarded within the industry for his knowledge and expertise.

The courses are based on diagnosing electrical and mechanical automotive problems using a PC-based oscilloscope — specifically a PicoScope automotive oscilloscope.

Day 1 introduces the basic working principles of Engine Management systems, component testing and system diagnostics using oscilloscopes. The course is split between theory and practical demonstrations in a workshop using the Pico Automotive Diagnostic Kit. Day 2 gives you practical examples of diagnostic work with the oscilloscope, and also builds on your understanding of electrical and mechanical faults and the engineering significance of voltage signals.

5.  How Good is our Foreign-language Documentation?

Do you use the foreign-language versions of our software and manuals? If so, we would be very interested to hear from you. We have thousands of pages of documentation translated from English, and minor errors sometimes occur, especially in technical terminology. We know that even small mistakes can be confusing or frustrating, so please tell us if you find any.

Send comments to: documentation@picotech.com

Thank you!

6.  WEEE and RoHS Statement

Our products (oscilloscopes and data loggers) fall into category 9 of the European “Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment” (WEEE) directive. We plan to label them to comply with the WEEE directive in time for the August 2005 deadline.

Our products, like those of all test equipment manufacturers, are exempt from "The Restriction of the Use of Certain Hazardous Substances in Electrical and Electronic Equipment Regulations 2004" (RoHS) directive, but this exemption may be revoked in the future. We will continue to work towards the RoHS directive by removing lead from our products wherever possible.

7.  Exhibitions and Training Dates

Full details of upcoming exhibitions and training dates can be found on the exhibitions page.
