1.  New Product — EL040 Power Monitor

The EL040 is a 3 channel EnviroMon converter designed to record current using AC current clamps. Uses include energy efficiency studies, machine monitoring and balancing 3 phase supplies.

The EL040 is in limited production now, volume production will start in May.

2.  New Software — R5.08.0 Beta Release

PicoScope R5.08.0 software is now available for download from our website. This is a beta release of software and has not been fully tested. Currently we are only recommending that users of the ADC212/50 and ADC212/100 upgrade to this software.

  • Sampling rate increased to 5GS/s for repetitive signals1
  • Faster download of data from oscilloscope to PC1
  • New min / max display mode2
  • Ability to save waveform as .jpg file2
  1. ADC-212/50 and ADC-212/100 only

3.  Guide to Choosing an Oscilloscope

Our guide on “What to look for when choosing an oscilloscope” has now been published in the Scandinavian magazine “Elektronik i Norden”.

The full article is available on our website in either English or Swedish:

4.  Technical Tips — Exporting Data to Spreadsheets

Data can be exported to a spreadsheet using EnviroMon for Windows or PicoLog by copying a pasting from their spreadsheet views. Data can be exported from PicoScope by choosing Edit|CopyAsText and pasting into the spreadsheet.

Alternatively, a Dynamic Data Exchange (DDE) can be used. This is a convenient method of transferring the current set of readings to other applications. Data is updated continuously, about once per second. To read the current values from PicoLog, PicoScope or EnviroMon for Windows, respectively, into Excel, type the following command into a spreadsheet cell:

=PLW|Current!Value
=PSW!View1|Text
=EMW|Current!Value

Or for Quattro Pro, type in the following command into a cell:

@DDELINK([PLW|Current]Value)
@DDELINK([PSW|View1]"Text")
@DDELINK([EMW|Current]Value)

For more information of DDE see the “Dynamic Data Exchange” section of the “Technical Information” Chapter in the PicoLog, PicoScope or EnviroMon helpfiles.

5.  New Application Note — Dynamic Range of Radar Receivers

Our latest application note was submitted by the Irish Aviation Authority and looks at using the ADC-11 converter to measure the dynamic range of radar receivers.
