Salters Horners Advanced Physics course for Advanced (A) and Advanced Subsidiary (AS) levels is a context-led course placing students’ learning in the environment and in situations in which physics is met in real life.

There are currently some 200 centres using the course, mainly in the UK with some overseas. The project is based in the University of York Science Education Group with its examinations administered by the Edexcel Foundation.

Salter Horners are pleased to recommend Pico oscilloscope and data logging products for use in the course.

Recommended Equipment

The DrDAQ data logger is our recommended product for this course. As it is supplied with both PicoScope and PicoLog it can be used as an oscilloscope, spectrum analyser and data logger. Due to the products low cost (under £80 including software) we recommend purchasing one DrDAQ for each PC you have available.

The ADC-40 and ADC-42 have also been used for various parts of the course. These are single channel PC based oscilloscopes, spectrum analysers and multimeters that provide all the functionality of conventional scopes along with many new features, at a fraction of the price of traditional benchtop instruments.

Free Equipment!

Many of the activities in the Salters Horners Advanced Physics course can be performed using our oscilloscopes and data loggers.

If you are interested in performing and writing up one or more of these activities, please e-mail experiments@picotech.com in return for writing up a suitable experiment we will donate a FREE DrDAQ data logger to your school / college.

These activities will be added to our library of science experiments.
