EL033 Modem Adaptor

If you wish to monitor temperatures at a remote site, it is possible to access the logger via modem. The computer dials up the modem each time the user starts the program.

EnviroMon will work with any modem (telephone, radio or GSM) that supports Hayes- compatible AT- command codes. We recommend operation at 9600 baud. You will need two modems: one connects directly to the computer, and the other connects to the logger via an EL033 modem adaptor. The logger modem must be connected to a telephone line that can accept direct-dialled incoming calls. (IE not an exchange line).

Pico does not normally supply modems, only the EL033 modem adapter. Note: In order to comply with current legislation, use only radio modems which comply with the RTTE directive.

Backup Batteries

For some applications, it is not necessary to collect or store data if mains power fails. If continuous operation during mains failure is required, there are two options:

  • Fit 4 x AA batteries into the EL008 logger. This provides several hour’s backup, but the batteries must be changed from time to time. The EL005 logger has internal rechargeable back up batteries.
  • Install an EL018 dialer/battery backup module -this contains a lead-acid battery that will give 24 hours' operation in the event of mains failure. It is continuously kept charged while mains power is present.
