ADC-10 — the first Pico oscilloscope and data logger
The start of a new revolution
In the late 18th and early 19th century the Industrial Revolution began in Britain and spread throughout Western Europe and North America. Within 100 years the effects of the revolution could be seen all over the world.
Just 15 years ago Britain was at the centre of a new revolution: PC–based test and measurement equipment. In 1991 Pico realised the need for cost–effective and adaptable test and measurement equipment, and began designing and developing PC Oscilloscopes (PCOs) and Data Loggers.
1991 saw the release of the ADC-10; this was the first reliable alternative to a traditional benchtop oscilloscope, and could also be used as a data logger and meter too. Since then we have continued to design and develop an award–winning range of easy–to–use oscilloscope, automotive diagnostics, and data acquisition products.
In the last 15 years computers have changed considerably. In 1991 MS–DOS and Windows 3.0 were the standard Microsoft operating systems, and PCs came equipped with RS–232 serial and Centronics parallel ports. Today there is a whole family of Windows operating systems, and serial and parallel ports are rapidly being replaced by USB ports.
Throughout this time we have been keeping up with these changes: our PicoScope oscilloscope software started life as an MS–DOS program, but now works with Windows 95, 98, ME, NT, 2000 and XP. And — since 2004 —we have been developing USB oscilloscopes and data loggers. So, no matter how PCs develop in the future you can remain safe in the knowledge that Pico will continue to develop products that are designed to work with your PC.
Like the Industrial Revolution, the Pico-led PC-based test and measuring equipment revolution has also spread: today there is a worldwide network of Pico distributors. With Pico distributors in over 50 countries you can be assured that wherever you are in the world you are only a phone call or click away from the first-rate support that we’ve built our reputation on.
We’re only just getting started
In just 15 years our innovative PCO and data logger products have revolutionized the test and measurement industry, but we ’re not finished yet — in fact, we’re only just getting started…
Viva la revolution!
